How Does it Work?

It Starts with a Promise

You commit to support Sunbeam Family Farm for either 20 or 10 weeks and pay up front for the CSA membership. Sunbeam has already started planning for the new season and will be ordering seeds and supplies during December and January.

From Our Farm

Each week starting on June 3 through October 14, we pack the best quality organic vegetables available from our fields for your family.

To A Pick-up Location

Sunbeam delivers fresh, seasonal organic vegetables to your selected pick-up site every week for full share members and every other week for half share members.

To Your Kitchen

You receive an email each week describing the vegetables that are in the CSA box. In the email, we provide actual photographs of each vegetable along with recipes and storage tips. Our vegetables are truly a work of art from mother nature, and our CSA box will let you be creative and adventurous in the kitchen.

Frequently Asked Questions

When do the veggie boxes begin?

In 2021 we plan to start on Thursday, June 3. (Please realize Mother Nature might force us to change the start date). This will continue for 20 weekly deliveries.

How many vegetables will be in my box each week?

Sunbeam strives to have on average 7-9 vegetables in the CSA box each week.

Should I get a full or half share membership?

If your family is three or more and consumes a LOT of vegetables or you like to store things away for the winter, then choose the full share. With the full share, you will receive a box each week for 20 weeks. If your family is smaller or if you are single, then we suggest a half share. You will receive a box every other week — 10 weeks total. We also have members who split their box with two or even three people. If that is the case. we suggest a full share. There really is no right answer to this question as you are the one who knows how many vegetables you will use each week.

Is everything in my veggie box certified organic?

Everything except sweet corn. Sunbeam has been USDA certified organic since 2013. We do not grow sweet corn but we have a local farm that produces non-GMO sweet corn that meets our standards. We will make sure to let you know when the sweet corn is added to your box. Other than the sweet corn, you will receive Sunbeam organic veggies.

What if I go on vacation and have to miss my box pick-up. Can I switch my pick up date?

Yes. In order to do this, you must notify us no later than Monday of that week. With 90 members, our packing system cannot handle changes at the last minute. If you have to miss a pick-up, please email Cynthia at sunbeamfamilyfarm@gmail.com or call her at 740-507-5615. Cynthia will provide you with the various options. If you do not arrive to pick up your share and you do not notify us in time, your box will be donated to a local food pantry, and someone will benefit from your share.

I was late to my pick-up site and I missed my box. Can I still receive my box?

If you are able to email or phone Cynthia within 24 hours, we can make arrangements for you to pick-up your box. If you fail to contact us, your box will be donated to a local food pantry.

Can I send someone else to pick up my box if I can’t be there?

Yes! If you cannot pick up your share yourself, simply send a substitute! All they have to do is sign their name on the CSA clipboard.

How will I know what’s in my box each week?

Each week, we will email you the contents of your box for that week, along with photographs, description, storage tips and recipes for each vegetable.

Why do I need to return my empty box each pick-up?

With 90 members, it can be quite costly for Sunbeam to provide new boxes each week. It also helps to save waste and materials. We ask you to reduce our costs and our waste by returning your empty box when you pick-up your CSA.
